Dhuul had attacked Lacheis several days earlier surrounding the events that led to Solmarar's death previously. This was Lacheis finding him for payment.

Lacheis nimbly flips a silvery dagger at you!
... 35 points of damage!
Strike clean through neck, what a shot! Lucky shot!

It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...

A nearby goodwife screams, "Murder!"

The dagger shimmers and disappears!

Dhuul spends some time recovering

Fresh green grass is soft underfoot and a foreground for a weathered wooden bench in the shade of a graceful willow tree. Chirping crickets mingle with the voices of folk who stroll through the commons. A dusty path to the south and a riverstone walkway to the north are joined by a tall evergreen hedge which borders the edges of the lawn. You also see a sky-blue glaes scarab, a grey wolf (sitting), a field mouse (sitting) and a large wooden barrel.

Solmarar just arrived.

You say, "Solmarar, Lacheis is back."

You reach out and hold Solmarar's hand.

Solmarar's jaw drops.

Solmarar exclaims, "GOOD!!"

You ask, "Anyone else want to take out Lacheis?"

Aubery says, "I know the name.. though why I should remember it slips my mind."

You say, "He's a fiend, Aubery."

You say, "We must destroy him and drive him from the rest."

Aubery says, "Some fiends are called friends.. ."

Aubery shrugs.

A bit of time later Dhuul locates Lacheis

[River's Rest, Sanctuary]
Deep in the forest rests a small shrine lovingly carved of the silvery haon wood that surrounds you. Crickets chirping and the gentle rustling of leaves fill the air with a strong sense of life. From somewhere nearby the gentle sound of running water completes the quiet symphony. Little else disturbs the peace save for an occasional muted voice drifting on the breeze. You also see the Evarin disk.

Geremiah and Solmarar followed.

The field mouse squeaks, "squeak squeak!"

Evarin signals, "The mouse belongs to a mage known as Pavender"

Lacheis signals, "Dhuul was dealt with."

Evarin frowns at you.

You poke Lacheis in the ribs.

You scoff at Lacheis.

Evarin says, "You."

You kick Lacheis!

You whisper, "Lacheis!"

Evarin asks, "Do you wish for death, fool?"

Evarin peers quizzically at you.

Sparroe slings a sylvan long bow off from over his shoulder.

Lacheis signals, "Blessings are for the weak minded, as is relgion, the only true god is power."

Geremiah removes a platinum-shod orase runestaff from in his leather sheath.

You say, "I already showed ya, no dark elf is a match for me."

Solmarar says, "Traitor."

Solmarar glares at Evarin.

Lacheis nimbly flips a silvery dagger at you!
... 30 points of damage!
Incredible shot to the eye penetrates deep into skull!

It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...

A slurring voice from the crowd echoes, "Murder! Murder! Someone call for the Fleet Captain!"

The dagger shimmers and disappears!

You say, "This is a sanctuary."

Lacheis says, "As if I care."

Evarin signals, "There is no sanctuary from the wraith of the Council, fool."

Speaking to Lacheis, Geremiah asks, "Why is it everyone seems to want to kill you?"

Geremiah cocks his head at Lacheis.

Evarin says, If this buniness does not concern you.

Lacheis says, A misunderstanding.

Lacheis nods to Geremiah.

Evarin says, "The man kicked him, he simply returned the favor."

Evarin shrugs.

You say, "Call the blooming Fleet Captain."

Evarin signals, "Do you intend to take the life of that of the large mouthed one, Solmarar?"

Evarin peers quizzically at Lacheis.

You say, "I've been murdered by a bloody assassin."

Geremiah says, "I would think tou'd want us to call a cleric."

The world before you dissolves into a grainy montage of color...

You find yourself wandering amidst endless streaming light and vast nothingness. This place feels torn between two powers, polar opposites vying for your loyalty. You are surrounded by the spirits of those who could not choose. The only way out seems to be through light or darkness.

Time has no meaning as you wander aimlessly amidst the uncomfortable tugging for your attention. Hopelessness washes over dreams you once held like the creeping tide of doom.

After what could be moments, or perhaps an eternity, the goddess Lorminstra finds you wandering in the endless space and speaks soothingly to you. She gently reassembles the pieces of your tattered soul and then, taking you by the hand, the goddess leads you back to mortality...

Lacheis asks, "Where?"

Evarin says, "Mind your manners, halfling."

(Lacheis looks around.)

Geremiah says, "That's what I'd like to know."

You say, "Aye Lacheis is a servant of the dark ones."

Geremiah blinks.

Evarin asks, "Dark ones?"

Lacheis says, "Am not."

Geremiah asks, "Which dark ones?"

Lacheis says, "Dhuul lies too."

Evarin says, "He is a dark elf, this is true."

Geremiah asks, "The Jackal?"

Lacheis smirks.

Evarin says, "Beyond that..."

Evarin shrugs.

You say, "You are a fiend, a flesh puppet of the Master."

Geremiah asks, "What master?"

Evarin squints at you.

Geremiah looks over at you and shakes his head.

You say, "Not fit to dwell this land or walk amongst its inhabitants."

Solmarar slings a Luukos crested imflass shield off from over his shoulder.

Geremiah exclaims, "I get the feeling everone has lost their mind!"

Sparroe nods to Geremiah.

Geremiah says, "First him--"

Geremiah points at Solmarar.

Evarin nods to Geremiah.

You make a horrendous warthog-like noise.

You stand back up.

Geremiah exclaims, Now him!

Sparroe quietly says, "Ain't it grand."

Geremiah points at you.

Geremiah sighs.

Lacheis asks, "Geremiah?"

Geremiah nods to Lacheis.

Evarin shrugs.

Geremiah turns an inquisitive ear towards Lacheis.

Lacheis says, "Dhuul and Solmarar joined a suicide cult."

Geremiah says, "Ah."

Geremiah nods.

Geremiah asks, "Not a ... murder-suicide cult, right?"

Geremiah raises an eyebrow.

The field mouse suddenly pauses, listening to something intently.

Lacheis says, They take turns jumping off the Citadel bridge."

Evarin says, "Best to keep sharp objects away from them, then."

Evarin nods to Lacheis.

Lacheis nods to Geremiah.

Evarin says, "And bridges."

Lacheis smirks.

Geremiah asks, "I mean, they wouldn't try to take out the rest of us, too?"

Speaking to Geremiah, Evarin asks, "With the criminaly insane, who can tell?"

Lacheis says, "They are nothing, concern yourself not with their welfare."

Speaking to Lacheis, Geremiah says, "That puts me at ease, then."

Geremiah nods to Lacheis.

Geremiah sits down.

Geremiah put a platinum-shod orase runestaff in his leather sheath.

Lacheis nods to Geremiah.

You say, "Lacheis, let's step outside...I'll buy you a drink."

You whistle tunelessly to yourself, remembering days past.

Lacheis says, "Pleased to be of service."

Geremiah leans against a silvery haon altar.

Lacheis bows to Geremiah.

Solmarar says, "I thought this was going to be fair.. guess not.. you are just a weak fool as I thought... You have to hide in the sanctuary like a lil wormling and kill people."

Geremiah glances at Solmarar.

You agree with Solmarar.

Solmarar glares at Lacheis.

Geremiah says, "He can't kill people if there's a sanctuary."

Geremiah nods to Solmarar.

Speaking to Lacheis, Evarin says, "This town can be rather rough. Do take caution against passing thugs."

Evarin nods to Lacheis.

Solmarar says, "He just killed Dhuul."

You say, "He who dwells in darkness can't fight under the light's scrutiny."

Solmarar exclaims, "HERE!"

Lacheis says, "It is hardly my fault you fell and broke your neck."

Speaking to Evarin, Hesha says, "I see my kin have choosen to spread their insanity to this town as well..."

Lacheis nods to Solmarar.

Sparroe quietly asks, "The what just happend?"

Geremiah says, "Obviously, there wasn't a sanctuary, then."

Geremiah nods to Solmarar.

Sparroe quietly says, "No it's alwats a sanct here."

Lacheis starts chortling.

Lacheis just went southeast.

Evarin's group just went southeast.

You gesture into the air.

Your vision begins to become murky and clouded. You have a sensation of rapidly passing distance. Eventually your sight begins to clear and a vision of Lacheis's surroundings fills your mind...

A small human child cries out, "Murder!" His mother then sends him off for the Fleet Captain.

You have overextended yourself!
You feel yourself going into shock!

The Fleet Captain, leading a group of sailors, slowly ambles in.

With great ease, the Fleet Captain grabs you and shackles your wrists.

"Ah-ha! The boys at the docks said I might find something interesting here," says the Fleet Captain.

With a keen eye, the Fleet Captain glances over you quickly. He says, "We'll not have you dying before sentence is carried out. Let's get you healed up, though there will of course be a slight charge for it." With that, a demure looking city official, evidently an empath, comes forward and heals all your maladies.

The Fleet Captain then drags you off.

Arriving at the his Quarters, the Fleet Captain motions to his first mate to strip you of your possessions, whereupon he hustles you over to a secure looking hatchway in the floor. Unlocking and opening it with a *bang* he pushes you into the darkness below. "Enjoy the vacation! If 'twere up to me and me mates, ye would be feeding the fish by now!" he exclaims with a muttered oath.

Glaring at you, he deftly lifts the hatchway into place and locks it with a clanging rattle of keys, leaving you to contemplate your fate.
